Going to Miami in the beginning of April is probably one of the best times. The sun is strong, the breeze is gentle. The water is still cold but you warm up in that hot sun! This is the 2nd time that I've been sunburned, the 1st was in Puerto Rico AND I used sunblock. But I have no regrets, being on that beach was so relaxing and beautiful. The water is clear! I can see my feet! ohhhh, just splendid!
I stayed at Avalon Hotel, 700 Ocean Drive. Room was a bit tight for me and was surprised to see that it was a bit on the old side. No vent in the bathroom, every time I took a shower it was a personal sauna in there. Walls are paper thin, you can hear everything. Sometimes staff was courteous, sometimes not. I wanted to eat at their restaurant: A fish called Avalon, but decided why give them more of my money. Convenience to the beach was undeniable, they were literally right across the beach.
Walking through Lincoln Road Mall - shopping haven. I wish I had more money to spend. They had such nice shops. But I was good. My money went only to food. Some good food spots are:
il bolognese - Italian, they have some yum pizza there
Sushi Siam - Thai Japanese fusion, try their whole snapper - delish!
Another really good spot to eat is Hiro's Sushi Express on Washington Ave. OMG. Fresh fish at reasonable prices. A must go. Love, love, love.
Miami's Botanical Garden is charming, a bit on the small side, but a good place to spend 20 minutes of your day if you love flowers. They also have benches if you want to sit and relax. Butterflies flutter around here too!
A visit to the Holocaust Memorial on Meridian Ave left me feeling haunted and sad. I studied this history when I was in school. Seeing the sculpture, the images and hearing the music just left such a hole in my heart that it still haunts me as I am typing out this review.
A visit to the Marina was really nice. Quiet and serene, you can rent a bike and travel through here as well. You can picnic here. Lots of tables and chairs for your use!

I was looking for the Slice of Life, but wasn't sure where Dexter docked his boat...

Overall, Miami is a beautiful place to visit. Especially, if you are young and love to party. The nightlife on Ocean Drive is something else. Great place to drink and eat.
